The mayor of the western Greek city of Patras, Costas Peletidis, summoned by prosecution authorities following a municipal council decision not to submit any data regarding the conversion of 370 labour contracts from fixed-time to indefinite ones, on Thursday,30/10/2014 submitted an official note

The mayor of the western Greek city of Patras, Costas Peletidis, summoned by prosecution authorities following a municipal council decision not to submit any data regarding the conversion of 370 labour contracts from fixed-time to indefinite ones, on Thursday, 30/10/2014, submitted an official note with the positions of the municipal authority to the Misdemeanors Prosecutor.

Under the municipal council’s decision, the specific procedure aims at creating a tank of employees eligible for dismissal.

Emerging from the court house, the mayor said that the municipal authority would not back down and would not submit any data for its employees, regardless of how many charges may be pressed against its members.

In the meantime, in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki, municipal employees hold work stoppages on Thursday and Friday between 09.00 and 12.00 against the cross-checking of the indefinite time labour contracts.

According to the employees, Public Administration inspectors arrived earlier in the day at the new city hall to continue the checks, expected to last about a week.
