Biden and Anastasiades discuss Turkish violations
US Vice-President Joe Biden and Cypriot President Nicos Anastadiades on Friday,31/10/2014, discussed the violation of Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ) by Turkey in a lengthy telephone conversation.
According to information, Biden "showed full understanding" for Anastasiades’ views, Turkish violations and the interruption of the peace talks between Cyprus and Turkey. He also reiterated the US stance on Cyprus’ "right" to exploit its resources within its EEZ.
On his side, the Cypriot president repeated to Biden that if Turkey doesn’t stop its provocations and its violations of its EEZ , peace talks will not resume and asked the US to intervene and make Turkey "comply".
The US official is expected to discuss Turkish violations in his upcoming meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
