Hardouvelis says 'no across-the-board tax burdens'

The changes in the institutional framework for taxation that are being considered will not introduce across-the-board tax burdens and are aimed at improving the taxation system to benefit honest taxpayers, Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis underlined in a document forwarded to parliament on Friday.

He underlined that the government implements the economic adjustment programme to restore the country's credibility and to ensure its presence in the eurozone.

The main strategic goals of the government, Hardouvelis said, are to found a new sustainable and long-term growth model, the radical solution to the debt crisis and the well-targeted promotion of initiatives for the relief of the citizens most affected by the consequences of the economic crisis.

The document, signed by the finance minister, was forwarded in response to a report tabled by Independent Greeks (ANEL) MP Nikos Nikolopoulos.
