Weekly Metron poll gives 4.7 pct lead to SYRIZA over ND

The weekly poll conducted by Metron Analysis, to be published on Saturday's "Parapolitika" newspaper, gives a 4.7 percentage point lead to main opposition SYRIZA over majority coalition partner New Democracy (ND), in voting intent.


Asked for voting intention, 23.3 percent of people polled said they would vote for SYRIZA, over 18.6 pct who said they would vote for ND. They were followed by "To Potami" with 5.9 percent, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) with 4.4 pct, PASOK with 3.7 pct, Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avgi) with 3.5 pct, Independent Greeks (ANEL) with 2.8 pct, Ecologists-Greens with 1.6 pct, and ANTARSYA and LAOS (Popular Orthodox Rally) with 1.3 pct each.

In addition, 4.4 pct said they would vote for other parties, 4.8 pct said they would cast an invalid or blank vote, 7.7 pct would not vote, 13.7 pct were undecided and 3 pct declined to voice an opinion.

Asked who among political leaders would be a better prime minister, 34 pct chose current Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, 18 pct SYRIZA's Alexis Tsipras. Another 2 pct each went to Evangelos Venizelos (PASOK), Fotis Kouvelis (Democratic Left/DIMAR) and Stavros Theodorakis (To Potami). Panos Kammenos (ANEL) and Nikos Michaloliakos (Golden Dawn) each got 1 pct. A further 2 pct chose Other, 35 pct chose No One, and 3 pct declined to answer.
