Rescue operation underway for baby bear in Metsovo

A rescue operation was underway on Monday to save a 1.5-year-old baby bear found seriously injured by a resident of mountain village of Metsovo in Epirus, northwestern Greece.

The bear was taken to the Metsovo Veterinary Clinic with extensive facial injuries, possibly after being hit by a car within a village.

Specialists from the bear conservation agencies 'Arcturos' and 'Callisto' have arrived and are attempting to revive the injured bear and are attempting to first place an IV for fluids, after which they will assess its condition and attempt to transfer it to the Thessaloniki veterinary school.
