The red lines were not real

The red lines were not real

Despite the initial reaction of the government and despite the assertions of the Maximou, that supposedly the government is not going to make a step back to the unreasonable demands of creditors for further reductions in wages and pensions, but also for the planned painful changes in insurance, Samaras and Venizelos make ... two steps back.

The government goes to Paris, demonstrating once again incredible compliance.

While all these days we are supposed to wait for the troika to come to Greece to continue consultations, lenders in a showdown of power ask the Greek Staff to go to Paris and the government accepts it, effortlessly.

The semantics in level of appearances is bad for the Greek side that appears to be "dragged" behind developments and behind the commands of the troika officials.

Once more it is understood that there is no red line and absolutely no mood for confrontation. After the demand of the lenders: "you will come to Paris to find us", Mr. Antonis Samaras invited Gikas Hardouvelis in his office in order to "develop" the strategy of the Greek mission, while in the afternoon will take place a meeting of the Prime Minister with the Deputy Prime Minister, to reassess the situation.

The government, however, spreads the information that there is a chink of understanding with lenders, although the facts do not indicate something similar...
"The meeting in Paris will be the beginning of solving of the problems with the Troika", estimates the Maximou, stressing that the meeting has a dual nature, i.e. the evaluation of the program and the discussion on the next day of the Greek economy.
