SYRIZA leads ND by 5 pct in Pulse opinion poll

Main opposition party Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) is ahead by five percentage points over New Democracy (ND) in voting intention, according to an opinion poll by private company Pulse, broadcasted by TV station Action 24.


In the results, 27 percent of those polled said they were likely to vote for SYRIZA, with 22 pct for ND. They were followed by PASOK with 7 pct, ultra-right Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avgi) with 6.5 pct, the Communist Party (KKE) and newly-founded party To Potami (The River), both with 6 pct, Independent Greeks (ANEL) with 3.5 pct, Democratic Left (DIMAR) and ANDARSYA with 1 pct.

Five percent of those asked said they would vote for "another party", 6.5 pct of those polled stated their intention to vote "Blank/Abstain" and another 8.5 pct "Undecided/No answer".

Asked which party would win if elections were held tomorrow, 59 pct of respondents said SYRIZA, 27 pct said ND and 5 pct said another party. A 9 pct of the people didn’t respond.

Asked, "Which of the two do you consider most suitable for Prime Minister, (Prime Minister and ND leader) Antonis Samaras or (SYRIZA leader) Alexis Tsipras," 32 pct chose Samaras and 28 pct chose Tsipras. Another 37 pct said they would vote for neither, while 3 pct declined to answer.
The poll covered the entire country and was conducted between November 21 and 24.
