Voultepsi on government's negotiation with the troika

Government spokeswoman Sofia Voultepsi on Thursday left the possibility open for a short extension of the memorandum for technical reasons.

“If a short period is needed, because this is what happened in Portugal, this was a one-month period to settle technical issues and make its agreements,” she said.

In statements to Mega TV, she referred to the meeting in Paris:

“We have said from the very start that this is the last and therefore the most difficult negotiation and indeed what took place in Paris – long discussions – set the conditions for progress.

“That is, although the discussions were intense, although there were disagreements and the disagreement on the fiscal gap remained, this meeting had its positive and prolific aspects. Because we were given the chance to refer to the Greek positions, several issues and vague matters were clarified, views were heard; that is, we know where we stand, there has been progress in a number of issues."

She noted that Greece insisted on its position that it would not accept measures that could hurt its development.

She added that the Greek representation proved that “it knows the country’s figures better than anyone else” and that it could be said that “Greece predominates” in arguments.
