Theodoraki' s comments about Samaras and Tsipras

In light of the recent political developments, the leader of To Potami party, Stavros Theodorakis, called on Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras to "back down" and "take brave decisions."

Theodorakis said the two leaders should agree to elect a president from the current Parliament and then call elections by February 1, 2015 at the latest.

"Alexis Tsipras should vote for Stavros Dimas for Greek president - besides, SYRIZA has not expressed any reservations about the candidate – and Antonis Samaras should agree to hold general elections by February 1, at the latest," he said.

"The country must not remain without a government and without a President of the Republic in the next crucial weeks, the judicial and police authorities must feel secure enough to investigate immediately what has been alleged," he added.
Theodorakis also noted that politicians could use the time it would require to elect a president from a new Parliament to prepare for the country's decisive negotiations in February.

"The country is entering into a difficult situation in which there will be no political winners," the leader of To Potami said, and asked Samaras and Tsipras to put aside "party interests" and take "the brave decisions required in these moment."
