«Possible announcement of elections, tomorrow night»

Yesterday's (12/21/2014) Samara's consensus statement on election of the President of the Republic, a new government and elections at the end of 2015, had minimum and insignificant impact to the independent MPs and the MPs of DIMAR.

Tomorrow (23/12/2014), in the second vote for President of the Republic, is expected to be heard six or seven "yes" more than in the first election, but of course is a very long distance from the 180 votes needed to elect the President. The 10 to 13 votes needed to reach 180, are not available anywhere.
DIMAR and ANEL retain their consistency and all the Members who will vote "present" during the vote, therefore the pool of independent MPs is too small to achieve the goal of 180.

Recent information from the Prime Minister's environment, states that if tomorrow the positive votes for the election to the President of the Republic are below 170, Mr. Samaras in collaboration with Mr. Stavros Dimas will proceed in a dramatic move to rescue whatever can be rescued from his political prestige.
It is not excluded, until tomorrow evening, to announce early elections for January, after the following phases, which will take place in the afternoon of the same day, immediately after the result of the second vote.

Phase one: Resignation of Dimas from the nomination for the President of the Republic, so we do not go in the third ballot on 29 December, with Mr. Dimas as candidate.

Phase two: Meeting of Samaras and Venizelos at Maximou for a joint decision with the new data and possible immediate meeting with the President of the Republic.

Phase Three: Message of Samaras to the Greek people that will not proceed in search of a new presidential candidate and thus will not take place a third vote for the election of President.

On the same time, he will make the announcement of the early elections date, to be the first Sunday after the feast of the Epiphany (i.e. January 11), taking by surprise the opposition parties.

This is the plan, which is processed today (12/22/2014) morning, by the close group of political consultants and communication specialists of Mr. Samaras, and since Mr. Venizelos is hurrying anyway, to speed up elections (to prevent G. Papandreou's plan for a new PASOK) and the repeated measurements of the positive votes do not reach 170-172 in third ballot, Mr. Samaras intends to make a heroic exit from the impasse, by announcing direct elections.
Even within the ND, there are executives (eg Mr. Gerasimos Giakoumatos etc.) that put pressure on Samaras for elections here and now, relying on the close of the percentage's difference between ND and SYRIZA in recent polls.

However, tomorrow afternoon, many things will be determined about the future of Greece for the new season and the New Year.
