Patriarch Kirill of Moscow congratulates new Greek prime minister

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed hope that the brotherly relations between the peoples of Greece and Russia, who share the same faith, will be further strengthened, in a congratulatory telegram to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras posted on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church on Thursday.

The Russian patriarch said that developments in the modern world demand of state leaders effective decisions and decisive moves.

He also expressed certainty that the new prime minister's "experience and firm political position will help to meet the expectations of the Greek people and improve the country's economic situation."
