Turkish President Erdogan on bilateral relations with Greece

"Bilateral relations were good with Greece's previous leaders too. I hope that it will be the same with (new prime minister) Mr. Tsipras as well," Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday (29/01/2015) said speaking on Turkish state television.

Responding to an observation made by a journalist concerning "the election campaign commitment that Greece will not repay its debt," Erdogan said that the prime minister "should display more self-restraint as regards certain messages he sends out.

Politics is incompatible with sentimentalism. There should be a balance in populism. Because it will be a problem if in the process the messages sent will not be met."
