Juncker: Greece prepared to present fiscal programme by next week

The Greek government is prepared to present its plan of reforms by the end of this week or the beginning of next week, according to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker speaking at the European Parliament on Wednesday, who said this was conveyed to him by phone by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday night.

Juncker added that the Greek proposals will be examined by the technical groups, followed by a delegation visit to Athens to collect data. Then the Commission and the European Central Bank will examine them very carefully to proceed forward in the best way possible.

He also expressed optimism about developments, after saying he had been very pessimistic in the last few weeks because of no progress. (Greece has received an extension to the end of April to present its financial proposals package.)

European Council President Donald Tusk told Europarliament that the recent held with Tsipras and EU leaders and officials mutual trust was regained and misunderstandings cleared up. Tsipras, he said, agreed to speed up the implementation of the February 20 agreement and present reforms shortly.
