Member of the Russian mafia arrested in Thessaloniki

A 33-year-old Russian against whom was pending an Interpol red arrest warrant was arrested in Thessaloniki on Saturday.

The Russian is charged with homicide, participation in a criminal organisation and illegal transfer and possession of fire arms. According to information, the Russian, alleged to be member of the Russian mafia, was known as 'Arthouros' and had started his criminal activity in 2012 in Russia.

He was located by the Greek police last December and appeared as Bulgarian presenting fake documents.

According to police, the arrested is member of the Russian organised crime. In his possession police found and confiscated 12 cell phones, a large number of mobile telephony cards among them of Estonian and Russian companies, credit cards belonging to third persons and a laptop.

The Russian will be sent to Thessaloniki prosecutor.
