Authorities arrest Syrian migrant traffickers in Evros

Border police on Sunday arrested two Syrian nationals on charges of migrant-trafficking after they were caught transporting 18 Syrian irregular migrants across the Evros River from Turkey.

The two men, aged 26 and 21 years old, respectively, were caught in the Dilofos region in Evros while ferrying the migrants across. Another 30 irregular migrants waiting on the Turkish side of the border were prevented from illegally entering Greece as a result of the arrests.

The two suspects will be led before an Orestiada first-instance court prosecutor.
