Gov't spokesman: Scenarios of capital control groundless

Government spokesman Gavriil Sakellaridis called the scenarios of capital control of the banks groundless at a press conference on Monday (25/05).

Sakellaridis said that the government is optimistic that a deal will be reached, however, he added that the prime minister " will not accept it (the deal) if it does not move within the framework of the people's mandate".

He also said that convergence exists on the primary surplus but the VAT, social insurance, fiscal and labour issue remain still open.
Asked if the government will be able to pay salaries and the IMF's installment, Sakellaridis said that "there is no such issue" while on IMF's installment he said that the government is responsible to pay the country's obligations.
