Greece's top archaeological body to examine study for maintenance of Amphipolis tomb

Greece’s Central Archaeological Council (CAC) will convene on Tuesday to decide on whether to approve a study for the maintenance and restoration of the Amphipolis tomb, in northern Greece, a year after the systematic publication of excavation finds in the region.

The study concerns the building temporary earthworks to secure the slope of the Kasta hill, the burial monument, the enclosure and its surroundings, as well as creating temporary water drainage for the protection of the monument ahead of autumn.

The Council will also examine the preliminary studies for the maintenance of the third chamber of the tomb as well as the floors.
