Greek stocks end higher

Greek stocks ended higher in the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday, hovering near the 830-point levels, but turnover remained very low.

The general index of the market recorded losses of 0.77 pct to end at 835.55 points. Turnover was at just 24.2 million euros in a volume of 16.4 million shares. The Large Cap index gained 0.88 pct and the Mid Cap index rose 0.10 pct.

Viohalco (4.35 pct), PPC (4.14 pct) and Eurobank (2.07 pct) scored the biggest percentage gains among blue chip stocks while Attica Bank (-2.02 pct), Ellaktor (-1.20 pct) and GEK (-0.50) suffered losses.

In terms of sectors, Industrial Products (2.59 pct) and Utilities (2.54 pct) scored gains, while Technology (-1.03 pct) and Construction and Materials (-0.25 pct) recorded the biggest losses.

National Bank and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 58 to 41 with another 140 issues unchanged. Haidemenos (29.03 pct), Mathios (19.50 pct) and Spyrou (8.71 pct) were top gainers, while Epilektos (-13.70 pct), Revoil (-12.89 pct) and Motodynamics (-7.36 pct) were top losers.
