Parliament: 2018 draft budget to be submitted

The draft budget to be submitted to Parliament later on Monday provides for a 2.4 pct growth rate and 3.5 pct primary surplus for 2018.

The targets of the preliminary draft budget are in line with those of the medium-term fiscal strategy. For 2017, the primary surplus is forecast to be 2.2 pct, higher than the 1.75 pct target of the economic policy programme, and the growth rate is forecast to be 1.8 pct.

Unemployment is expected to fall below 20 pct, close to 19 pct, in 2018 while employment is expected to rise by 1.7 pct.

The draft budget will also provide for:

- Private consumption up 1.4 pct

- Public consumption down by 0.2 pct

- Total private and public investment (gross fixed capital formation) up by 12.6 pct

- Exports of goods and services up by 4.7 pct

- Imports of goods and services up by 4.4 pct
