Digital Policy Min Pappas: Greece is back on its feet

Greece is back on its feet again and is claiming to regain its position, Minister for Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media Nikos Pappas on Tuesday said in a statement to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) after the Eurogroup decision.

"We are optimistic because there are more and more positive messages from abroad," he said.

The Eurogroup's approval of the third programme review confirms that Greece has turned a page, Pappas underlined. From now on, he said, any programme review and Eurogroup will not translate into anxiety and fear but into steps and optimism for the future.

In that framework, Greece is constantly gaining ground and he reassured that it will successfully complete the third programme, restoring its freedom in economic and the social terms.

Pappas also referred to US investment interest in Greece which is already evident. Pappas stressed that Greece is about to write a new chapter in its history.

During a speech at an event at the Hellenic-American Chamber in Thessaloniki, Pappas referred to the role of the Chamber and the contribution of the US Ambassador to strengthening bilateral relations.

"The Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce is one of the most active American chambers in Europe. I am happy because I am amongst people who act as a link in the long-standing relationship between Greece and the USA. Amongst people who showcase and strengthen long-lasting ties based on the protection of democracy," he stated.

"I have the honour to closely cooperate with the US Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey R. Pyatt," Pappas said adding that Pyatt loves Greece and he has not stopped advertising it as a great place to visit, as a great place to invest.
