We will have agreement for the debt by August 2018, says Tzanakopoulos
"We will have an agreement for the debt by August 2018 which will envisage extending the maturity of Greek bonds," said government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos on Wednesday, speaking to Alpha TV.
Referring to an article in the German newspaper Handelsblatt, according to which the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) and France have tabled plans for further debt relief linked to Greece's economic growth until 2050, Tzanakopoulos noted that this was decided at the June 2017 Eurogroup, where the French proposal was submitted in order to bridge the differences between the IMF and the institutions.
Tzanakopoulos reiterated that the government's target was to reach the end of its term and hold general elections in autumn 2019.
