Rescue operation to locate woman and her children missing in Evros river
A rescue operation to locate a woman and three minors, all refugees, allegedly lost while attempting to cross the river Evros on the Greek-Turkish borders on Thursday.
According to Athens Macedonian News Agency sources, a group of approximately 25 migrants and refugees were located by the authorities that have crossed the river and illegally entered Greece. The arrested said to police that while they were crossing Evros River, a woman and her three children were lost, probably swept away by Evros' raging waters.
The search for the missing individuals remains fruitless. Police said that there is a possibility the woman and her children to have returned back to the Turkish side of Evros.
