Greece will exit the programme in August, gov't spokesman Tzanakopoulos says

Government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said on Tuesday in an interview with Alpha radio station that the country will exit the programme in August 2018.

He explained that the government's priorities are the end of the programme, the conclusion of the fourth programme review as well as entering into the final stretch as regards a debt relief agreement.

"The government's priority is to negotiate in order to achieve the best possible terms for the end of the third programme. We have a fourth programme review ahead, a discussion on debt and a discussion for the situation relating to post- programme, surveillance," he said.

These are really difficult negotiations that must be concluded by the Eurogroup on June 21, he noted, adding that this was feasible.

"I am confident that the fact that the Greek economy has achieved such a surplus of 4.1 pct - 4.2 pct gives us the possibility and empowers us with political capital in order to be able to negotiate the exit from the programme on better terms," he said.
