Defence Minister on government's armaments programme
The Government Council for Defence and Foreign Affairs decided to proceed to the final stage of the Follow On Support (FOS) programme for C-27 aircrafts, Defence Minister Panos Kammenos said at at a press conference on Wednesday following the council's meeting.
On the F-16 upgrading programme, he noted that it has the government's approvals but that there is an issue with the necessary payments, which relate to the country's commitments with the lenders.
Referring to the French frigates he said there were talks on the issue between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and French President Emmanuel Macron regarding their construction in Greece, but there are still many issues that need to be settled, said Kammenos.
