M17: UN Security Council votes today on draft resolution over plane crash

The UN Security Council has completed work on a draft resolution regarding Boeing airliner's crash in Ukraine.

The UN Security Council held a closed-doors meeting seeking to draft a mutually acceptable resolution on the crash of the Malaysia Airlines MH17 passenger airliner in east Ukraine.

Russia and Australia moved in their draft resolutions on the issue.

Before the meeting Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin told reporters that the text of draft resolution, which Australia, had developed did not suit Russian delegation.

"We are concerned that it does not give a quite clear idea of the need for an unbiased international investigation," he said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Australia, Tony Abbott has warned Australia would take it "very badly", if Russia veted its UN security council resolution for full "unfettered" access by international investigators to the MH17 crash site as he described the mood of international leaders as "firmer and sterner".

The vote on the draft resolution is scheduled for today, Monday.
