Poroshenko refutes Putin's allegations on the Boeing

The Ukrainian president Peter Poroshenko refuted Russian allegations that an Ukrainian fighter aircraft flew on short distance from the airplane of the company Malaysia Airlines, which crashed last week in Ukraine, saying that the Ukrainian aircrafts were grounded at the time of the crash.

In response to the statement of the Russian Defense Ministry issued yesterday, which mentioned that an aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force flew too close, within 3 to 5 km from the Malaysian passenger aircraft, Poroshenko told the U.S. television network CNN: "My immediate reaction: this isn't true".

The Ukrainian president added that his country is open to any research on the aircraft and that the Russians should give evidence to support their claims.

He also noted that at the time of the accident the airspace of eastern Ukraine was monitored by various control systems: "Everyone knows that at the time of the tragedy all Ukrainian aircraft (which were in the area) were grounded".
