Manolada case: Storming reactions, after acquittal

The acquittal of all four defendants for the case of Manolada, where field supervisors shot against and injured immigrants workers, after they asked for their provisioned wage, has caused storming reactions in political as well as social level.

Apparently, Patras Mixed Jury Court of Appeals ignored completely Prosecutor's proposal of guilt and acquitted all four defendants of all major charges, whereas two of the four defendants, the businessman and the supervisor, were acquitted of all charges.

One of the four defendants was found guilty for causing serious physical injuries and was sentenced to 14 years in prison, while the other was found guilty as an accomplice to serious physical injuries and was sentenced to 7 years in prison. However, the decision on their imprisonment is reversible.

SYRIZA, PASOK and the Communist Party showed immediate reflexes to Patras Mixed Jury Court of Appeals decision, characterizing it shameful and provoking. In their opinion justice was not served.
