Tripoli: Sacrilege even stole the font! (photos)

The image seen on Wednesday morning (30/7) in the chapel of Agias Theodoras caused an outrage to members of the Board of Hunting Association of Tripoli and the church committee.

They just learned that strangers damaged the building of the Association in the early morning hours.

The President and Regional Councilor, Giorgos Roumeliotis, the treasurer of the church committee, Kostas Dimopoulos, and all the Board of the Association rushed to the hill, where they found extensive damage.

The sacrilege had broken windows and destroyed the shed door, while removing the font, the carpets, the trolley materials and all the oil from the burner!

They immediately contacted the police of Tripoli, who reached the point of the incident and recorded damages, while filing a lawsuit against unidentified people.

In a communication Roumeliotis had with Arcadia Portal, he was obviously angry and indignant, while mentioning that it isn’t possible in such a historic chapel, which is an ornament for the city, that some mindless dare to desecrate every so often the church and hall.

“The Hunting Association makes efforts of any kind to protect and enhance this part. Recently it adopted after my initiative an amount for creating a street in the area” he said and added: “We are determined to take all the necessary measures to prevent future similar actions”.
