The production company of the movie withdrew the poster after strong opposition from users of social media.

Paramount withdrew the film poster of the famous cartoon, which caused controversy for many because it referred to the terrorist attacks of September 11th in New York.

The poster in question shows four heroes of the film falling from a burning skyscraper and also indicates the date of circulation of the film in Australia, which is on September 11th. After the negative comments and sharp criticism accepted, it deleted it from Twitter and Facebook, while admitting that the combination of the image with the date was wrong and apologized to everyone.

The statement mentioned: "We deeply regret that we used this poster as part of the campaign promoting the film in Australian theaters on September 11th. We hadn't intended to offend anyone and we took immediate steps to solve the issue".

The film, which stars the 28 year old American actress and model Megan Fox, is based on the homonymous comic, released for the first time in 1984. It will premiere in U.S. theaters on August 8th, while in Greece it's scheduled for Sept. 25th. See the poster below.
