The dangers of anti-racism bill

The so-called anti-racism bill, which comes to a vote in the Third Summer Department of the House, can be characterized only as dangerous. On the pretext of dealing with the increasing incidence of racism, is paving the way for the rewriting of modern history to the measures of supranational structures such as the European Union, and to the interests that they represent.

The bill is entitled "Modification of n.927 / 1979 (A 139) and adaptation to the Framework Decision 2008/913 / JHA of 28 November 2008, on combating certain forms and expressions of racism and xenophobia by means of criminal law (L 328)". The title reveals that the real objective is the integration of Framework Decision 2008/913 / JHA of the European Union and the harmonization of Greek legislation with that.

The essence of the bill is located in the following paragraph: "Whoever with intent, orally or through the press, through the internet or any other means or manner, welcomes, trivializes or maliciously deny the seriousness of crimes of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, the Holocaust and crimes of Nazism, and this behavior is directed against a group of persons defined by race, color, religion, descent, national or ethnic origin, or disability in a way that may incite violence or hatred or poses a threatening, abusive or insulting in such a group or its member, is punished with the sentence referred to in paragraph 1 of the preceding Article", (i.e. imprisonment of three months to three years and a fine 5.000-20.000 Euros).

The issue of this bill is that based on the condemnation of Nazi atrocities, the provisions of the bill are extended to what is considered as "war crimes" and "genocide" by the international ruling class, by which decide the international courts and other controlled organization. Thereby, it is criminalized the historical research, to the extent that is not subordinated to the dominant interpretation of historical events.

The hypocrisy of the European Union in dealing with the anti-racism and neo-Nazism in Europe was revealed recently in the case of Ukraine. Those who legislate against crimes of Nazism had no problem giving coverage to Nazi organizations that terrorize the Ukrainian people and the minority populations in the country, including the Greeks, while they discuss and give their support to the coup government of Kiev in which there are neo-Nazi members.
Also, military interventions of the Western powers, which cost the lives of civilians, were legalized through decisions of international courts. In the logic of the

European Union, thousands of Greeks who protested against the NATO bombing in Serbia should be held accountable for "war crimes denial."
Bilingualism is obvious in the case of Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip. The same time where the dead Palestinians have surpassed 2,000, including women and children, Western powers talk about possible war crimes by Hamas. The otherwise very active World Jewish Council had nothing to say about the threats received on the Net over 300 Jews, Holocaust survivors and their descendants, who issued a public statement condemning the "genocide" of the Palestinian people by Israel in Gaza strip. After the announcement of the International Network of Jews Anti-Zionism, other Jews who were supporters of the bombing wrote to social media insults like "Hitler should have finished the job." On the other hand, the powerful American-Jewish lobby pushes the government of Samaras for the adoption of anti-racism bill, apparently to the satisfaction of their own interests.

By hiding the real aim of the bill, the coalition parties and sections of the opposition have been engaged in a race of gaining votes, inserting corrections and amendments, to fool the Greek people. Their interventions are targeting to the "progressive voters" but also to the "conservative." In this context, will come to the Parliament the civil partnership for same-sex couples, something that divides the Greek society as evidenced by the strong reactions. Already has caused uproar within the LD and there was a public outcry from Metropolitans of the Church. The Metropolitan of Florina expresses his concern about the fact that anyone who publicly condemns homosexuality is threatened with sanctions, in his letter to the Prime Minister.

On the other hand, the movement of the 38 members of the New Republic, who seek to include in the bill a provision which will defines as an offense "the denial of the genocide of the Christians of the East (Pontus, Asia Minor, Armenians and Assyrians)" and to be equated with Holocaust of the Jews, it may be proper to be added, however, does not change the essential character of the bill.

The claim of the government, that the anti-racism bill fills gaps in legislation, according to lawyers, rebutted by the fact that the Law 927 of 1979, which will now amended, punishes the outrageous racist expressions, while by the amendment of 2001, these crimes are prosecuted ex officio. The question is why they did not implement the legislation in force and was given tolerance in phenomena of racist violence of previous years. As for the rise of neo-Nazism and racism, this trend cannot be addressed efficiently with laws and judicial decisions, since it is a result of anti-social policies that implemented and peaked on the period of economic crisis.
