Advisor of the IMF prepared the tax bill

Greek ministers simply translate the bills that come from abroad - ENFIA and the Code of Tax Information was written by foreigners

Unfortunately, the downfall of the coalition has no end. After the revelations of the Tax Department, that the ENFIA came from abroad written in English, - which anyway has been never disproved -, another news justifying all those clamoring for years that the government appears highly compliant and submissive to requirements of the troika.

The law called "Tax Procedures Code" written by the Dutch Consultant of IMF, Mr. Geerten Michielse! So, it came ready and packed to us and the Greek Ministry of Finance, including Mr. Stournaras, did nothing else than to translate.

This disclosure was made again by the employees of the tax office, who are watching speechless what happens in the ministry.

The questions that arise are reasonable:

1 How is it possible to draw up laws, some people who have no contact with the Greek market and the Greek Society?

2 Since the laws come from abroad, why should we pay so many advisors in ministries?

Why they should not hire some translators instead?

The real author of the freak-law, bearing the name "Tax Procedures Code" and incorporated into Greek law by 1/1/2014, causing huge problems to the smooth functioning of thousands of businesses with exorbitant and unfair fines, is the Dutchman Geerten Michielse, a consultant of IMF in taxation.

According to what has denounced yesterday the vice president of the Panhellenic Federation of Tax Workers', Mr. Alexiadis, the draft Code of Tax Procedures, which was posted on the Internet in July 2013, was made by the consultant of IMF called Geerten Michielse. From his position as senior advisor to the tax law of the IMF, drew our own tax law, preparing us for days of ... prosperity, fair taxation and 'development', like he did with the other countries which he... "took care of".

Mr. Alexiadis complained essentially that the draft of this law was written by Mr. Michielse in English and then translated in Greek. This draft provided the exorbitant fines of 1,000-2,000 euros for each non-issued receipt, which then were minimized by the government after an outcry from the business world, as well as the usurious rates of interest and calculating fines, reaching to the level of 29.5% per year for those Greek taxpayers who do not pay the taxes on time!

Note, that the new Tax Procedure Code, is purely anti-development, is reflected in a draft text which is unclear, (as reported by all lawyers who have read it), and does not respond to the needs of the Greek state and society for tax justice.
Who is the Dutch author of the law

The Tax genius of IMF, Mr. Geerten Michielse, is a senior member of the Legal Department of the Fund. The Dutchman was Professor of Tax Law at the University of Utrecht. He specialized in tax law and has prepared many drafts of tax laws for many Third World countries, such as Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, Armenia, Tanzania, Uganda, N. Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, Eritrea, Cambodia, Ethiopia and Latvia. Now in his "CV" will be added that of our country, since some felt that we are not capable to draw the draft, and that we are at the same level (financially at least) with the above countries.
