Wildfire in Kissamos, Crete
A wildfire that broke out early Saturday in Kissamos on Crete is currently in progress. The blaze spread quickly due to strong winds that are blowing in the area.
The fire is burning farmland mostly olive trees and the Fire Brigade is digging fire lines to prevent the blaze of approaching residential areas.
The settlement "Livadia" was evacuated for precautionary reasons while reports say that two farmhouses were burned.
A strong force of firemen, a large number of fire engines assisted by two water dropping helicopters are in the area battling the blaze.
