Government announces 90 pct in price of Eurocodes used in construction

Alternate Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Nikos Tagaras on Thursday announced that there will be a 90 pct reduction in the price for Eurocodes used in construction, following agreement with Deputy Development and Competitiveness Minister Odysseas Constantinopoulos and the head of the Hellenic Accreditation System Angelos Tolkas.

He said the measure was another step toward assisting the recovery of Greece's construction sector, which has been hard hit by the crisis.
The price of Eurocodes in Greek and their national appendices will in the first phase (October 14 - December 31) fall to 390 euros for individuals, 890 euros for legal entities (three working positions). There is also a subscription cost of 50 euros for person and 110 euros per legal entity from 2015.

Eurocodes are a set of harmonized technical rules developed by the European Committee for Standardisation for the structural design of construction works in the European Union. Their purpose are as a means to prove compliance with the requirements for mechanical strength and stability and safety in case of fire established by EU law, a basis for construction and engineering contract specifications and a framework for creating harmonised technical specifications for building products.
