Third man remanded in custody for soccer violence injury

A third man, aged 32, was on Friday remanded in custody for incidents that led to the serious injury of a 47-year-old football match spectator, during the game between the teams Irodotos and Ethnikos. The victim is now being treated at the 401 Military Hospital in Athens.

The 32-year-old had voluntarily given himself up to authorities on Wednesday and was given until Friday to prepare his testimony to the public prosecutor. He denied the charges against him, saying he was present at the incident but had not participated in the injury of the victim.

Four people have been charged in connection with the case, of which three were remanded in custody and the fourth released on bail. They are accused of attempted murder and inflicting grievous bodily harm at a sporting venue.
