Farms in the Peloponnese sprayed against catarrhal fever

The southern Greek peninsula of the Peloponnese began spraying by air to fight the spread of catarrhal fever among goats and sheep which broke out widely in the area in June.

Anaptyxiaki Local Government Company of the Peloponnese SA began spraying against the insect carrying the virus, which does not affect humans. The farms that will be sprayed are located in Argolida, Arkadia, Corinth, Laconia and Messinia, on the eastern part of the Peloponnese, where reports of suspected or confirmed cases have been registered. Repeat sprays will also be held in the entire peninsula as well.

Other actions include traps for the insects and controls to monitor the effectiveness of all measures, as hundreds of flocks were affected this summer, when it first broke out.
