Foreign ministry condemns terrorist attacks in Sinai

The Foreign ministry condemned the terrorist attacks in Sinai, Egypt, that resulted in the death of over thirty people and the injury of others, by a statement issued Saturday that called the incident "deplorable".

Expressing condolences to the families of the dead, the ministry said, "We once again assure the Egyptian people and the Egyptian government that Greece will continue to support their struggle against blind terrorist violence, as well as their efforts towards a prosperous Egypt that will constitute a pillar of stability and security for the whole region of the Middle East and the Arab world."

It also expressed appreciation to Egyptian authorities' efforts for a Gaza ceasefire, and underscored "the global significance of the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai," over which it thanked local authorities and called on the international community "to turn its attention to this situation as well."
