The hippocampus or otherwise known as "seahorse" is a strange marine organism.
Not only because it stays with the same "woman" all the years of his life, but mainly because the male gives birth to the "babies" of the family! Yes you read right! The seahorse holds the eggs and when the natural time occurs, it brings to the world small seahorses, as a jubilant and proud father! More specifically, during the breeding season the pair of seahorses sits next to each other and seems to be kissing! In reality, however, the feminine carries the eggs in a "pocket" that is below the male's tail, where they stay until they reach the coveted time of birth according to perierga.gr
The male seahorse gets... pregnant and after 10 to 60 days (depending on species) the belly is swollen dangerously! All signs then indicate that the time for childbirth has come. The male gripped by seaweed and making extruding movements, when the first seahorses start to come out of his belly! The process can last from two to three days, until they got all babies (over 1,500!), While the female discreetly monitors the "birth". From the strange part of nature, however, it is proved that "mother is not only one!" Besides, as you can see in the following video ... the father seahorse does a great job!
