This morning, at 06:53, a 5,3 magnitude earthquake hit the Mediterranean under-sea area, affecting Karpathos and Rhodes.
The strong quake originated at a depth of 93km and it was centered 148km south-east of Karpathos island and 205km south of Rhodes.
It should me mentioned that the earthquake was strong enough to be felt also in many eastern areas of Crete.
The earthquake was recorded by seismograph provided by the Seismological Network of the Institute of Geodynamics of the National Observatory of Athens which was located in Karpathos.
So far, there have been no immediate reports of injuries.
