Androulakis: On June 9, voters must show disapproval of a system that prioritises serving oligarchs

"The prime minister tells us that we have a successful economic policy, but the people he governs are the penultimate in Europe in terms of purchasing power," said the president of opposition PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, speaking on Friday to the municipal radio FM 100 of Thessaloniki.

Androulakis added that, among the 27 EU member-states, Greece's level of purchasing power exceeds only Bulgaria's, although the prime minister believes that the economic policy he follows is bringing results. “Prices are at 88% of the European average and purchasing power is 21 points lower at 67%. In other words, we are a country that is rapidly becoming more expensive and at the same time citizens do not have money to shop," Androulakis noted.

Referring to the stakes in the European elections, he underlined: "On June 9, there must be a force of disapproval for a system of power that prioritises serving oligarchs and not the Greek people".

On Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis imminent meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as recent Turkish provocations, Androulakis pointed out that "it is good to talk with Turkiye, I do not disagree, but we should bear in mind that Erdogan's priority is his survival."
