Panepistimiou and Faliro project files to be resubmitted

Panepistimiou and Faliro project files to be resubmitted

The EU Commission ruled that the Panestimiou avenue overhaul and another three subprojects along the Faliro coastline – which were to be tendered by the end of the year – are not an immediate priority, Infrastructure ministry sources said on Sunday (23/11), noting however that they are not excluded from the funding programmes.

The files of the projects will be resubmitted, the sources said and the European Commission will approve their funding “within six months as of today.”
The Commission decided that priority should be given to the funding of other projects, such as the line 4 of the Athens metro and the conclusion of highways, the same sources said.

Sunday’s paper “Vima tis Kyriakis” reported that the two projects were excluded from the 2014-2020 European funding projects because the Commission considered them supplementary and could not be financed by EU funds as the construction of significant infrastructure was still pending.
