Mikrolimano gunman arrest

The 31-year-old Albanian national accused of ripping through a nightclub in Mikrolimano, Piraeus with a Kalashnikov automatic rifle on Saturday (22/11/2014) night, injuring 11 people was arrested and is sent on Thursday (27/11/2014) to Piraeus prosecutor.

The gunman is Albert Bako and was found on Wednesday afternoon in apartment-hideout at the Athens district of Goudi following police's coordinated operation.

Police acting on a tip-off raided the apartment which is rented by a 23-year-old Albanian who is detained for a serious of crimes. Police said that Bako after the shoot-out threw the Kalasnikov into the sea near Mikrolimano.

Authorities continue the investigation to locate two other Albanians that were with the accused during the shoot-out in Mikrolimano.

According to up to date information, the reason for the crime was the staff's reaction when the three Albanian wanted to leave and take with them a young dancer of the club together with her cousin. For this reason the three perpetrators had made a reservation at a hotel opposite the nightclub.

Police examines the possibility Bako to be responsible for four other armed attacks resulting to the death of a 44 year-old Greek and the injury of and Egyptian.
