Nine Syrian refugees taken to hospital

Nine Syrian refugees who were on hunger strike were transferred to Evangelismos hospital on Tuesday evening, according to drivers of the emergency medical assistance service EKAV.

"Two of them fainted while some others lost consciousness because of the cold," the Syrian Tsabah Muammar said.

About 200 Syrian refugees are staging a protest sit-in on Syntagma Square, in central Athens, since November 19, asking to be granted asylum status, housing and healthcare, as many of them are facing health issues, including children.

To escalate their protests, some of the refugees started a hunger strike on Monday morning.
