Bulgarian nationals arrested in Igoumenitsa for drug trafficking

Two Bulgarian nationals were arrested at the port of Igoumenitsa, northwestern Greece while attempting to smuggle nine kilos of heroin out of the country.

On Thursday evening, police conducted a search in a car driven by a 65-year-old Bulgarian national travelling with a 72-year-old woman, which was about to board a ferry for Ancona, Italy. The officers, assisted by a sniffer dog, found a number of packages containing 9.18 kilos of heroin hidden between the driver's and front passenger's seats.

The two suspects were arrested and the drugs were confiscated. The Igoumenitsa port authority is conducting an investigation
