Tsipras: Government will not sign a third memorandum

The Greek government will not sign a third memorandum, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stressed on Friday in his second speech in Parliament during an off-the agenda debate he requested to brief political parties on the ongoing talks with Greece's creditors.

He also rejected any timeframe for achieving a deal. “For us, there’s no time limit for the negotiations. Our time limit is the achievement of a fair and viable agreement,” he said responding to comments by the opposition.

Tsipras also noted the government will not accept an agreement that doesn’t include the potential of a debt restructuring.

Turning his attention to the leader of the main opposition, Antonis Samaras, he said: “Mr. Samaras, will you side with us who seek a debt restructure, or with our lenders who demand more surpluses.”
