Only united can Greece deal with the important issues, President Pavlopoulos says

Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos stressed on Thursday that Greece can only deal with the major and important issues when it remains united.

Pavlopoulos was addressing the conference "Nikos Kazantzakis and Politics" at the Acropolis Museum, marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis.

The president pointed out that Kazantzakis, at certain crucial times for the Nation during with his life, had abandoned his ascetic stance and "fought with all his strength, both physical and mental, for Greece and for the unity of the Greek nation."

"Because, as has been demonstrated over the years, only when they are united are the Greeks capable of coping with the major and important issues. On the contrary, when we are divided on such national issues, a national disaster is almost always the inevitable result. Kazantzakis was deeply conscious of this truth," he added.
