Climate Crisis Min Kikilias signs contract for 30 advanced meteorological stations
The contract for the supply of 30 automatic meteorological stations, under the AIGIS program, was signed on Monday by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias.The event was held at the premises of the National Meteorological Service. At the same time, the contract for the supply of seven meteorological radars is expected to be signed by the end of February.The two projects will be financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund 2.0 and will total 36.2 million euros."The huge investment that the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is making, through AIGIS, for Canadair, for helicopters, for 1,200 firefighters, for sensors, cameras, and drones, has 30 weather stations and radars," Kikilias said, adding that this is a standing request for 20 years now by scientists in order to be able to contribute to timely and correct forecasting. He noted that the weather stations and radars are expected in 16 and 17 months, respectively.
