Crimea: Russian army opened fire against naval base

Russian soldiers opened fire with automatic weapons, during their invasion in Ukrainian naval base in Crimea, news agency Interfax said, citing Ukrainian official.


The official, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the Russian troops invaded to a naval base near the city of Backchisaray shortly after 4 pm (Athens time), seized all the mobile phones of the Ukrainian soldiers and moved the vehicles.

None of the Ukrainian soldiers were injured and the commander of the base tried to negotiate a peaceful settlement.
