The new bill was filed at the Parliament
Its settings substantially include provisions implemented by the memorandum 2 for the support and development of Greek economy, as it amends provisions of the Founding Act of Financial Stability Fund, as well as the Public Revenues Collection Code. The multi-bill will be introduced for discussion with an urgent procedure, to the competent Parliamentary Committee, on Saturday at 1 pm, while on Sunday the Plenum of the Parliament will follow with the debate and the vote on final acceptance.
The deadline for the vote is midnight Monday, March 31, as from April 1 the work of the Eurogroup on the disbursement of the tranche starts. Voting in favor is prerequisite to officially close the fourth assessment of the Greek program and for the approval of the disbursement of 10 billion euros it in three installments to strengthen its structure, which starts next May.
Opposition reacts-Optimism in Maximus
The main opposition through Giannis Dragasakis expressed a strong reaction on the procedure. Indeed, the member of SYRIZA, who in an interview talked about "degeneration of parliamentary democracy", asked the President of the Parliament, Vangelis Meimarakis, to intervene so that the voting process will not be completed in one sitting, but within a timeframe of 24 additional hours.
Meanwhile, the government doesn't expect surprises in the vote and believes that the multi-bill will be adopted by all members of the coalition and independent members. It estimates that the "battle" might also confirm the government supremacy. That's because it is probable that the majority which will ratify the agreement with the troika may exceed 153 seats, which are currently available for New Democracy and PASOK, as independent members might get on its side on this case.
