Simitis against Papandreou on the: "there is money"

Newsbomb

The former Prime Minister, Kostas Simitis, speaks against George Papandreou and the New Democracy in his article in the "Kathimerini" newspaper.

The former prime minister in attaches responsibilities in ND for its policy from 2004 onwards, but does not name Mr. Karamanlis, while he name Mr. Papandreou.
Mr. Simitis says that ND used, before the elections in 2004, the slogan "Simitis gave everything he had to give" implying that she would make new benefits. "Indeed appointed thousands of employees, taxes abolished, gave illegal farm subsidies and more. The result was the crisis", he notes.

For Mr. Papandreou says that he "assured before the 2009 elections that there is money. He delayed to take action. The result was the intervention of the eurozone".
"The carelessness of PASOK since 2007 was also a determinant factor. It deliberately ignored the economic reality. When took over the government in 2009 was unprepared, undecided and arrogant, something that exacerbated the derailment", he highlights.

"The widespread populism, which imposes an untruth speech, is a permanent barrier that makes it impossible to plan and thwart the necessary continuation of an effort, in order it to give the appropriate results."

According to former Prime Minister, this is an "inevitable product of the political changeover. It was the result of political manipulation after 2004. Since then the parties ignored the lag of the country, its consequences, the need to continue the convergence to the Eurozone. They focused mainly on strengthening their power by any means and in any result. This is how the populist politics flourished so freely and also the avoidance of any political cost. The derailment was the dire consequence".
