Finance Ministry: There is no fiscal gap
The fulfillment of the fiscal targets is a common obligation for all the countries that are in a bailout programme as well as for all the eurozone countries that are bound by the Stability Pact.
Consequently, the ministry said the obligation to cover a possible fiscal gap exists regardless of the evaluation and the specific condition existed for all the previous years and is included in the Mid-Term Programme that was voted in April 2014.
On its part, the troika continues to ask for additional fiscal measures and insists on the existence of a fiscal gap. Ministry sources also said that, if hypothetically, the troika's most gloomy predictions become true, the government has found ways to cover a possible gap. Moreover, they added that this hypothetical case will not occur.
